You may have heard the words Lead Generation thrown about a lot by marketers. So what exactly is a lead? Most simply put this is somebody who has an interest in you and/or your products. The interest is expressed by the lead sharing their contact information with you or your business, allowing you to get in touch with them regarding your product. In terms of Fostering, a standard lead would be someone who is interested in Fostering and looking after a child. But is that person qualified to be a Foster carer or do they fall short of the necessary requirements?
There are many methods for generating leads, most of them being generated by adverts such as Facebook Ads or Google AdWords. There are also other ways to generate leads such as organic traffic on your website as well or from getting referred by existing customers! Sometimes there can be a lot of interest, but not many people to meet the criteria necessary to do the job.
There is some debate as to what a lead actually is because a person who shows interest in your business by signing up to a landing page or gives you their contact details may not match the criteria you personally are looking for in a lead. This doesn’t matter however if you put them through a process to find out whether they are a valid lead or not.
So What Is A Qualified Lead?
A qualified lead is a prospective lead with interest in your business which has been scrutinised and matches a set of criteria necessary for doing the job. This lead has to go through a process where they are either vetted by a person who looks at them and decides whether or not they exhibit the required properties to be an acceptable lead or through an electronic system which will get rid of people who do not match what you are looking for. This process can be performed by a chatbot or online form.
For the purposes of this exercise, we are looking for a Fostering Lead. We will need to know a lot of things, such as: Are they over the age of 21? People below this age would not be suitable and would end up being disqualified from the process. We’d need to know if they have a spare room at their accomodation and that they have no prior criminal convictions for violence or against children.
These are some examples of questions we can ask or get a machine to ask in the vetting process. This way when we advertise to people, we can find people who are more likely to be capable of performing the role of a Foster carer.
The advantages of the vetting process are clear to see. Anyone can be a standard lead who has an interest in doing the job, however, when these leads don’t match the criteria required to actually fulfil the role this can end up being a huge waste of time for Fostering companies.
Providing Quality Leads
Advertising is becoming more and more important every year for just about every business. There are many companies out there which provide Foster Companies with leads, but not every one of these businesses takes the time and energy to make sure that the leads are of a decent quality.
Mostly companies will just accept anyone who says they are interested and pass them on. We don’t like to do this as it can result in a lot of time and energy being wasted by the companies that employ us.
At OSA Digital we use a combination of techniques in order to cut down the amount of unqualified leads which have an interest in Foster Care. As with any system, this is not perfect and it relies upon the honesty of the applicant. We believe that it’s important to put a process in place to measure suitability before handing leads over to Fostering Companies because one valid lead is worth more than any amount of people who fail to meet the requirements. We value quality over quantity and we also value time and energy, so we always endeavor to make sure that our customers get good leads every time!
